glowing pink seahorses and chainsaw lollipops
Monday, February 18th, 2019 09:02 amTop three episodes don't have much of a review because I'm still getting the hang of the whole having opinions and being able to express them thing, and they sort of predate my realising that I could in fact write my thoughts down.
Critical Role 2.41

- They are legit pirate's now I can't believe it
Critical Role 2.42
watched 11 - 13 February(?)
- Hands down the coolest comedy of errors I've ever watched? And it was doubly hilarious to realise the hole in the plan was not a metaphorical title.
Critical Role 2.42

- Awesome battle!!! And the judgment! Beau's extract truth!!!
Critical Role 2.44
watched 13 - 15 February
- This episode was pretty awesome, though I felt like the slow creep through the seaweed was a bit...boring, save for the reactions of the cast. I loved Travis freaking out, it was so adorable. The battle against Dashilla saved that whole game I think, there were so many awesome moments that I saved! And I was massively curious about that pedestal too, and I'm glad my suspicion was confirmed towards the end that she was using it to pull ships down with storms. It's a pity that it's still there and they didn't destroy it after their failed/aborted attempt to see what it was. And! I got to see the new intro finally! It's awesome holy shit!
Critical Role 2.45
watched 15 - 16 February
- This episode was really cool, and not just because Deborah Ann Woll is an absolute darling. I had no idea where they were going with that ball gizmo, and having that being a pocket dimension dungeon was the coolest idea ever?? It was really fun to watch them having no idea what the fuck they were doing and what this thing was and where they ended up, and having to explore and poke, even (especially) when Travis's curiosity got him in trouble again when he got dropped into a pit with a fucking dragon in it! Don't ever change. That battle was so tough though, so many close calls and Liam's face when he left and Sam showed at the end that Nott had just one hit point left! And Twiggy with the HDYWTDT!! Guests on this show!!! The study room was so cool though, even if they didn't get to spend a lot of time there without cabinets trying to eat them and dumb (hilarious) party members touching shit and getting themselves into trouble and needing to be rescued. I hope the things they grab are really cool.
Critical Role 2.46
watched 16 - 17 February
- I have kind of mixed feelings about this episode and I'm not sure how to word them. I like Ashley, but she's away so much that I haven't been able to bond with her the way I have with the rest of the cast, and Yasha's presence in the story in pretty low as well, so I find myself forgetting any character reveals that she's had. And...I guess I'm jealous of how much they all miss her and how happy they are to have her back in the game, even when she can't remember any of her mechanics (it gave me a little bit of anxiety watching that battle, especially towards the beginning) because I don't have any real life friends to even remember I exist, and. Well. Anyway, I did enjoy the story, more or less. I liked hearing Beau and Caduceus talk about doing something nice for the crew, and I liked Yasha's flashback and her story later about what happened, even though it was pretty harrowing, naturally. I wonder if there was more to explore and do on Bisaft. If it was any other show I would have found it a little weird for them to stop there for just a little while but that's kind of the nature of the game so. That bit with Caduceus and the blacksmith was adorable, though. Maybe they'll stop by again.
- It's possible that my enjoyment of this episode was a little (or a lot, I actually got very teary when I realised it after finishing 2.45) marred by the fact that this is the last captioned episode and it always pisses me off to know that I'll never be able to properly catch up because the captions are consistently a month behind forever. When the captions fell really, really behind -- I think this was around May sometime, they weren't very far along in the campaign, maybe not even up to episode 20 -- I even tried to watch it by downloading the episodes and the transcript documents and having them open alongside each other and that just sucked. I feel like I shouldn't complain because I'm really fucking lucky that it's captioned at all, but it's starting to feel more and more intolerable that anything I hear from the show is out of date by the time I hear it, and even if I manage somehow to avoid spoilers (I really don't, I knew about Ford/Avantika, I knew about Yasha's tragic backstory, and I know about Nott though I don't know when I'll see that for myself, and that's just stuff off the top of my head for the recent episodes) I still have to deal with everyone on the planet gushing about how awesome yesterday's episode was, and they can't believe this happened, and they can't believe they heard about that character. By the time I get around to it everything has been talked about, all the fanart has been done, as if I didn't have enough anxiety about doing things and involving myself in the first place. I guess it's just gotten worse since that live episode, where they managed to have it captioned and uploaded in just a couple of days, and now I know that it can actually be done
