The other triad shenanigans! I confess that by now the changes and extensions and game mechanics have confused me about where I would put this part on a story map… My best point of reference is that the scene before they lean into going to save Aerith in Chapter 14 -- the one with three different scenes depending on player choices -- would be the dark night of the soul.

⊛ Reno: "That oughta do it, right?" Rude: "Eh. Good enough." Yeah, these guys aren't salty about their part in this at alllll. They do genuinely like getting back at Cloud though (^_^;) Rude: "Man, screw this cheap-ass play."
♥ Random aside: I love how fluffy Cloud's hair is in the wind….
♥ Playing as Aerith! She and Wedge going to get Marlene! I love that we get to see this part!
♥ Wedge: "But… something in my gut tells me we're due for a reckoning. Just this… feeling. Know what I mean?" Aerith: "Yeah… I do. But… that's no excuse to give up. I don't want to look back one day and wish I'd done it different."
♥ Those two guards :'D The recruit :'D New Recruit: "No, sir! I will not obey that order!" My heart!! Marle and the neighbourhood watch!!
♥ Tseng sees Aerith going through Sector 7 D:

♥ Boss battle with Reno here we go…. Rude: "It's nothing personal, bitch." Idk if I believe you man (^_^)
♥ Rude: "Preparing for bombing run, how copy?" Reno: "Say what?? [bomb slot opens] I see you're doing whatever the hell you want… I must be rubbing off on ya." :)

♥ Barret calling out for everyone :'( He and Tifa comforting each other :"( Cloud telling him that Marlene is safe. The dialogue here is so great tbh :( Barret is just the saddest monster :(
⊛ Talking about Ancients… remembering Sephiroth talking about it. Seeing him there now. Sephiroth: "You have failed again, I see. But through suffering, you will grow strong. Isn't that what you want." The way Cloud freezes this time when Sephiroth approaches him D':
♥ They think Wedge might be alive because he wasn't in the tower :(
♥ Arriving at the house, what a state he's in :( Barret: "Marlene -- she's got short hair. She's cute as a button, with the heart of an angel." I'm dead. The way he changes to creeping up the stairs…
⊛ Barret's little reaction to Elmyra saying that Aerith isn't her biological daughter, because Marlene isn't his either. And then her story…. Ifalna :( Tiny Aerith :( Aerith: "His heart came a long way to say goodbye. But he couldn't stay 'cause he had to return to the planet." Elmyra: "I didn't believe her, of course. And then, a few days later, I received a letter saying my husband had been killed in action." They did such a good job with this flashback.

⊛ Talking about not making things worse for Aerith… This is very different. Going back to Sector 7 to take care of some things, maybe, first, instead of storming Shinra right away. Cloud's not too happy about it though.

♥ Back to Sector 7. So many survivors, that's so good. And I love this little bit where the three of them jump in to help, it's just… makes me feel good. Following Wedge's cat? Finding Wedge?!
♥ Oh my, Barret falls through a floor… Shinra Underground Test Site… and now we're playing him solo for a bit.
♥ Found Tifa…. Where's Cloud and Wedge…. Tifa: "I'm afraid to ask, but did you just shoot your way in here?" Barret: "Well, yeah. Worked didn't it?" Bless (^_^)
♥ Do you think Wedge is okay, Tifa asks. Barret: "Of course he is. He's a lot tougher than he looks. Probably sleeping soundly, dreaming of his cats." And he is okay when we find him! And his cat is there! What is happening!!!
⊛ What the heck is this…. "Unknown Entity" What is this place…. Does this have something to do with Deepground?? Does it have something to do with Vincent???? I don't remember what the heck Deepground was for...

♥ Cloud! Barret: "Late to the party and you're giving me orders?!" And he follows it of course :') Barret: "How'd you manage to track us down?" Cloud: "Followed the trail of bullet holes. There's no one else I know who'd leave that kind of mess" :')
⊛ Tanks full of dead people :( "Yeah. That's the Shinra I know." Tiny flashes of him being in one of those tanks :( The spectres picked us up and took us back to Sector 7? What is UP with those things! Is it because it was triggering Cloud's memory and he's not supposed to remember yet?
♥ Tifa picked up the cat :"D There is a Certified Cat Person behind all of this. What a lovingly animated ear twitch. Cloud's little "Good kitty." I die :")
♥ Oh nooo… Barret says that he wants to look around for the other two. If Wedge made it, maybe they did too… Cloud tells him that he saw how bad they were hurt…. Tifa: "They've… returned to the planet." Barret: "... They… they were supposed to return to us." "But if we stop now… they'll never let us live it down. So… we carry that weight." ;___;

⊛ Cloud trying to get her to let them go after Aerith. Found those human research labs underground. "She's the last living Ancient on the planet. Think about what that means to Shinra's scientists. Especially to that son of a bitch Hojo. We're all just numbers and meat to him." I wonder where he's getting this from, since he's not supposed to remember. I wonder if he heard things… or maybe it's just something floating up from the back of his head.
♥ Cloud seeing Aerith… is this a dream, he asks… and is she okay… Aerith: "Don't I look it? I used to live in the Shinra Building, back when I was really little." This whole conversation D': Everybody dies…. you have to make it count, live the way you want to live, every moment matters. Grateful for all the time with him, made her so happy… Aerith: "Whatever happens, you can't fall in love with me. Even if you think you have… it's not real." Cloud: "Do I get a say in all this?" Aerith: "It's almost morning. Time to go." Cloud: "I'm coming for you." Aerith: "...If that's what you want. Thank you." Fuck this whole game ;______;

⊛ Okay…. there's a lot of sidequests to try and find and pick up and do. The game is telling me that I won't be able to do them. I'm not sure I want to do any of them. But… what if this is the last chance to spend more time in the game… No. I think I'm gonna go ahead to Shinra… how can they expect me to just dick around here after those scenes D':
♥ This scene where Kyrie is spouting shit about Avalanche and Wutai, Barret hurt about it but Tifa stopping him from making a scene. I love them, they are also so married ;__; How long have they known each other I wonder...
♥ Heeee! What happened with Don Corneo? Tifa: "I don't want to talk about it." Cloud: "Don't recall."
⊛ Why does this mansion need so many doors… Hmmm…. helping Leslie with unfinished business… ugh, in the sewers again.
⊛ I'm a toad again (^_^) I love that I have my sword on my back still. I do miss that there's no comments on it from other party members, I thought that was a really fun addition to FF15.
♥ Ughhh…. seeing the stamp mark again, because they stashed a skeleton key here in the sewers. Tifa: "I never got a chance to thank them for what they did."
⊛ Asking Leslie why he helped us…. Andrea told him to… is that really all there is to it? He lost someone down here to Corneo's grossness, I'm sure of it.
⊛ Leslie's fiance got picked as a bride and he never saw her again or found out what happened to her oh no… I love that they find out he wasn't telling the truth about the key and they just… understand. Barret: "That's not a key." Leslie: "Sorry.." Barret: "That's not your pendant either. Were they family?"
♥ Corneo got away… Leslie says he has nothing better to do than track him down anyway. But Tifa shows him his fiancee's pendant and says it's a symbol of reunion, she was saying they would meet again. So he's gonna look for her first.
⊛ But… but… where's my shiny wire of hope ;___; damn I wanted to climb those cables! A grappling gun just isn't the same!


⊛ Gosh look at all this mess… I think the amount of destruction gets a bit glossed over in the original game, to my memory, but here it's… horrific.
♥ Barret: "Too easy. This keeps up, I'm gonna get bored." Kill team patrolling up ahead. Thanks Barret…

♥ Defeated Valkyrie! And then it self destructed and we almost fell off the platform. That was a cool cutscene. Look at this beautiful teamwork! :"D Barret: "There is such a thing as too much excitement."

For sure! This really stood out to me as well, haha, like what's with all the cats. And they all look so great and adorable.

I also got the optional Aerith scene the first time round. I love the Cloud/Tifa one too though, they're all great.
