amovingtargetThis is a pretty interesting part of the story, with everything shifting up a gear. The gang has a plan, and they're going to see it through. The end of Chapter 4 would be the official start of Act 2, and we cover around the first third of it here. If I were looking at a plot embryo I might say this part covers the go segment, and part of search.

♥ I love how tense they look, compared to how excited and nervous Avalanche were at the start of the game.
♥ Barret: "Do I have a problem with that? Oh, you can bet--" Cloud: "He doesn't." So married u.u and Cloud even says "You know you're better than that." !!!
⊛ Actually being caught and having security on them immediately makes so much more sense than just running through the train… and the cardboard cutout Shinra manager ended up being a nice tiny story point here, too. It's always nice when you wonder why a character is even there, and it turns out there's a reason, even if it's tiny.
♥ Cloud: "Screw this. The station will be crawling with security. We gotta jump." Barret: "Screw that!" They're saying fuck and we all know it.
♥ This sequence of them jumping is awesome, and there's this moment with Cloud and Tifa too, but I do love how quick they're back to business.
♥ HORSELAUGH :'D
♥ I adore this little bit about them planning all the way down to E. I think the original game made them seem more ragtag amateurs than maybe they actually are.
⊛ It's another tiny thing, but I love that Heidegger's grey hair looks more wiry than the others, they're really like that.
⊛ The shake when the trains go by is a nice touch.
♥ Talking about the infestation of the… whatever gross things these are, being Shinra's fault. Cloud: "That black and white world of yours." Barret: "Ya like it, huh? You know there's room for one more." Cloud: "I'll think about it."
⊛ I feel like I might have more to say about the level of storytelling in this game, but because I don't know when or if I will get those thoughts together, I will just put this thought here -- This whole thing about the Shinra mascot and Barret's feelings about it: "Gotta love the irony of Shinra's smarmy lapdog leading the way to its master's destruction." and "I hate the fact that Shinra took a loyal animal like that and co-opted it for their self-serving agenda." There's a metaphor in here for Cloud, I think. But more than that it also makes the is little Stamp scared to bite the hand that fed him comment from Chapter 1 -- something I thought was just a random jab -- in a bigger context and that's… a level of worldbuilding and writing that I didn't really expect? Good job, SE.
♥ Tifa: "Think you're making progress and then you hit a wall." Cloud: "Knock it down." Tifa: "You're starting to sound like Barret." Cloud: "Never mind." :"D
♥ Barret: "I knew plan E wouldn't fail us. Shoulda called it "plan excellent"!" He's so adorable :")
⊛ Ugh. Where's my All materia at??? When am I gonna get some AOE spells or limits. UGH.
⊛ THAT CRAB WARDEN WAS A TOUGH BATTLE HOLY FUCK
⊛ I had a nap on one of the benches and I'm so sad the party doesn't join me! I want party snuggle pile on the bench, heads on shoulders, much cuddle. Missed opportunity!!!
⊛ Oh my, sun lamps below the plate. I love this. I never really considered how the slums get any kind of daylight. I assumed maybe it just filtered in, but obviously makes more sense. I'm also amazed at just how high up it is.

♥ Barret's afraid of heights :') "I feel no fear… no fear.. no fear.. little fear!" And when we have to cross the fans :"D
♥ I love that the game is kind of digging at itself for making us run around. Biggs knew we might be late so he thought of a few ways to kill time. Barret: "We'll reach him long before he dies of boredom." heeee
♥ Barret: "So long, underplate. I hate you too." :')
⊛ This chapter feels like quite a lot of filler too, you can tell where they're trying to stretch the story out, but… I kind of enjoyed it as well. It's like they move us on at just the moment I've decided I've had enough, and there are little nuggets of character moments, fun banter, and lore too.
⊛ Game warns me if I want to leave the materia behind that 'caught my eye' I don't know what that's about. One caught my eye and I grabbed it… if there's another I'm not trawling the underplate again to find it omg, fuck that.
♥ Biggs with a big ass sword at his throat. Hot u.u
♥ Barret: "You magnificent son of a bitch, bring it in." [goes to hug] The look on his face when Biggs slips under his arms! :'D
♥ Sliding down the pipes :'D
♥ Tifa: "That smell… takes me back…" Oh no :(
⊛ Another glitch, another flashback.. This time of Tifa crying over her dad D': Picking up Sephiroth's sword D': It's really amazing how they're putting these in. Cloud really is a mess.
⊛ The ladder withdraws after we place the bomb. Cloud: "Weirdly perfect timing…" OH NO. THEY'RE BROADCASTING THE GANG TO EVERYONE D: They played right into Shinra's hands! D': I don't think the original was ever clear about this either, unless it happens late in the game or I've just forgotten about it.
♥ Ooo, a chance to sabotage the Airbuster! I love that Cloud has all the answers. A clever and knowledgeable fiend :')
♥ Ahhh. Barret tries to make a speech to the cameras and Tifa is like what are you doinnn??? Cloud: "Thousand gil says they cut the sound." heeee
⊛ It's a nice little design detail the way they've got cable covers all over the place here. I don't know why I'm noticing it or why I like it, but it feels nice to me. It's also a nice touch that you can see their grappling hooks on their belts.
♥ Barret wants to talk victory poses :')
♥ Oh no. Cloud is softening and you can see it. Barret saying that they're all going home in one piece, joking that Cloud better give Marlene a smile this time, and Cloud joking back, "If the price is right."
♥ Bahahaaa, it's the bit where we pull the levers at the same time!! Me, doing the first panel in two tries: "This is so much easier!" Me, needing a million tries for the second panel: "Okay, never mind." It was still fun though, kinda. (^_^;)
⊛ Here we are. This bridge. Shinra's hologram… talking about Cloud being SOLDIER. "Though not for long. Accelerated cellular degradation being the most common cause of death by far." yikes ._. "This is classified, of course, but every SOLDIER knows the truth. And the knot of Shinra using mako power vs everyone else for benefiting from it. And when Tifa says, "I'm sick of all of this…" and Cloud thinking of that time again, thinking It's just like… when I failed you… ouchouchouch ;___;
♥ Airbuster battle! Ahhhhh the bridge fall it's so good as well!!!!
I was so surprised that this is Cloud's own voice! I always thought it was Zack! But then again, maybe Cloud isn't really seeing or hearing himself, he just can't remember who it is, so what could it be but his own voice? And Sephiroth gets a say in this too D: Go away D':
