So. I love this game. Turns out that swinging around Manhattan Island is a lot of fun!

I really loved the story. It started with a fun kind of bang, and I wouldn't have guessed that it would end with my getting my heart stomped on a lot, but it really did. They did real good with cranking up the emotional impact. Anytime I was doing anything in the lab for Dr Octavius, I couldn't help but feeling like I was building my own boss battle, and when the punches started coming they didn't let up at all. Or, I suppose they did. There were some very lovely heartwarming moments too, between Peter and May, and Peter and MJ and Miles, separately or all together. And I can't believe they tried to get me to feel bad about Norman in that stinger, and they succeeded, fuck. I'm so worried about Harry too, I wonder if we're going to find out what happens to him...

I loved the characters too and was really surprised when we got to play a few sections as Mary Jane, and a few section as Miles Morales, both of those character reveals had me yelling with delight. There's a Stan Lee cameo too -- I wasn't expecting that at all and I literally dropped my controller to clap my hands over my mouth! And Silver Sable, as well?!?! I love that they just threw everyone into this game. That little thrill of regocnition any time someone I was even a tiny bit familiar with turned up was so awesome.

And I guess I loved Peter most of all. It's actually kind of funny, at the start of the game when we see his face for the first time I was kind of… unimpressed? At least I was impressed by how plain they made him look, or normal, or average? Hollywood homely? He didn't seem to be made to be disgustingly handsome, and I thought that was cool and was duly undistracted by him for some time, until I noticed what an adorable crooked kind of smile he has. Fast forward a couple more days and my demi ass was all, he's so sweet when he's distracting May while her coworkers prepare a birthday surprise, and he's such an idiot he hasn't slept in two days because he's busy patrolling the city, and he's such a dork where MJ is concerned, and he's so gentle with Miles, and his nonsense remarks are so funny, and look he's too pure to be corrupted by Li. By the time I got toward the end of the game, almost two weeks after I started, I also noticed, belatedly, wow, that suit is really tight?

Anyway… The minigames and stuff are so fun too. I can't believe they managed to get me chasing pigeons around the city without making me yell and throw things. I was expecting to be frustrated by a lot of things in this game, but I wasn't by anything at all. I don't know how much of that is just the fact that I was playing on the most forgiving difficulty, and how much of that was built into the game itself, but I seriously appreciated it. I haven't completed all the side stuff, and I haven't played any of the DLC but I'm really looking forward to it. I picked this game up on sale because I figured it would be the least terrible thing I could do when I was feeling sad and frustrated and impulsive and it really came through for me. This is a good game.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's such a great game. This version of Peter Parker really is absolutely delightful, and the tale of your developing crush on him really made me smile.

My poor friend, slowly succumbing to the attractions of a kindhearted main character. :') I'm so glad you enjoyed this game!
