trust only in the force
Sunday, November 17th, 2019 07:36 pmSo I've been playing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and loving it so far.
The opening is good, with that awesome junkyard. I called it that he crashed on that ship, which was fun. The climbing's giving me Uncharted feels -- especially when I had to climb and fight my way through a collapsing train in the opening!
Story mode makes the combat interesting instead of infuriating, I'm really glad it exists. It's also so great that we can remap the controller! I kept using the force when I meant to block so I just changed the controls. Bless you. And I'm find the game to be really well designed. I never seem to know where I'm going but I never really get lost, and I always end up exactly where I'm supposed to go without feeling like I'm on a boring linear path.
Too many giant spider surprise attacks on Kasshyk, though, wow. I didn't need that. And I'm kind of sad that upgrades seem to be new moves instead of like...increased max damage or something because I never remember how to use them…. I'm a one button (and maybe sometimes dodge) person.
This game is high on cuteness factor. The Bogano critters were the first, and one of them eventually stows away on the ship with us, and then there's my droid! He's so cute, I die. I got thrown back by some electric cables and he tried to push me up, I can't with this. There's a button prompt to interact with him when he finds something to scan, or to use one of his tools, but you can actually use the same button when nothing is around and Cal will just ask him how's it going up there on his back. It's just so damn precious. And I love upgrades, especially when it's a BD upgrade. That little happy dance he does afterwards! And I wish we knew what the joke he told Cal was! But he just keeps getting more helpful and cute, not to mention saving my life against a boss.
I also love that there's a part of the ship where I can plant seeds that I find. And Cal's fluffy hair! I really like his hair, it ruffles so lovely in the wind.
Speaking of wind, there are a lot of puzzles in this game, and I've only had to look up solutions to two of them and even then I was just so close to getting it -- I had to look up the solution to one wind puzzle -- I was so so close -- but I solved another more complicated one, so take that.
